Cedar Dressing TableThis original Colonial Australian cedar dressing table was made in Toowoomba, Queensland around 1890. Toowoomba lies 130km west of Brisbane and has always been an important centre for agriculture, business and transport.
This is a quality piece of Colonial furniture made of local cedar with hoop pine back boards. All the drawers are hand dove-tailed front and back. All the original brass handles and locks are present as is the original paper label- " Rosenstengel & Kleimeyer, Cabinetmakers & Upholsterers, Ruthven Street Toowoomba".
Overall a great piece in excellent usable condition. |

H.C.Simpson Watercolour SOLDHerbert Clarke Simpson was born in Casino, New South Wales in 1879 and studied art at the Brisbane Technical College. He became a member of the Queensland Art Society in 1927 and exhibited with them from 1920-34. Simpson mainly painted watercolours in the South East Queensland area. Most famous are his seascapes of the southern Gold Coast, New Farm Park in Brisbane and the Glass House Mountains. He died in 1966. This is an original watercolour, typical of his work titled "Kirra Rocks" 1929.
